Whovian Manicures and Pedicures!

Whovian Manicures and Pedicures!

These are my first attempt at some Whovian nails and I’m so freaking excited!! These wraps are made from vinyl and they’re heat and pressure set. Non-toxic, made in America, not tested on animals and cheaper and faster than a trip to the nail salon and TARDIS nails, come on?! I’ve set these up so that you can do a full set of nails with a TARDIS on every nail, or you can mix and match blue swirls and TARDIS. These sheets will do up to 4 sets of nails (fingers or toes)! I’ll be placing an order on Monday, 9/23/13 (and other orders as interest is there). I can’t post prices online or list this in my Etsy shop, so anyone who’s interested in a set, message me and I’ll give you pricing and details! I just started selling nail wraps for Jamberry Nails. Their catalog has over 350 designs but how could I possibly say no to their Nail Art Studio where I can design my own! They haven’t yet enabled their website to display the custom wraps so you can only find my special designs by contacting me personally. Your Name (required) Your Email (required) Subject Your Question, Comment, or Concern. Please be specific, the more we know the better we can help! ImagesThis option is provided for your custom order request convenience. If you would like to include images please do so here. We only accept JPG, GIF, and PNG images. You can also RAR or ZIP your files. Size limit 10...
The Last Unicorn

The Last Unicorn

Peter S. Beagle, the author of the book and screenplay for the Last Unicorn, has remastered the movie classic and is re-releasing it. He has been traveling across the country going to showings of the film, doing question and answer sessions and book signings.   I was ECSTATIC to find out he was coming to the Lyric Cinema Cafe here in Fort Collins, CO. To make the most of the occasion I grabbed my copy of the Last Unicorn book (my movie is MIA… I must have loaned it to someone permanently) and a friend of mine suggested that I paint a picture on the new ACEO sized (2.5 inch x 3.5 inch) water color paper that I’ve been itching to use! I took some progress photos- starting with the pencil drawing and a few ink lines, then the water color wash and the final piece that has colored pencil details laid in over the water...
So Who’s the New Doctor?

So Who’s the New Doctor?

I am a huge fan of the BBC television series Dr. Who and my favorite Doctor is played by David Tennant in his 10th regeneration. There’s a big trend at the various costumed conventions for women to dress up as the TARDIS. Don’t get me wrong, I love the TARDIS, but I have two main objections for me personally. 1) The TARDIS at one point actually IS a woman and she looks nothing like her usual blue police box form and 2) I see red with rage when rude people think they’re funny by cracking jokes about ‘bigger on the inside’ with the implication that the girl is overweight or promiscuous. Naturally, I’d rather be the Doctor than a silly old box (awesome spaceship traveling through time and space). This project had been brewing in the back of my mind for several months. I was expecting to draft patterns for all the garment pieces- a fairly time consuming endeavor. Because of that, it wasn’t really in my queue for current projects. Until the Universe clubbed me over the head and said, “YOU WILL MAKE THIS NOW!”. I found this pattern from Simplicity that was very nearly what I had imagined for my Doctor. “Ok,” I said, “I’ll just buy this pattern and save it for later”. Then I thought I’d do a little browsing online for fabric availability and pricing. And found the perfect fabrics in the same online shop, on clearance. Yeah, wool suiting for $2.30 a yard! At this point it was 10 days before Denver Comic Con and the fabric was going to take about 5...
Leather Ear Tips are the Current Costume Craze

Leather Ear Tips are the Current Costume Craze

My favorite thing of all time is getting the chance to be inspired by a new medium. I’ve recently been introduced to the awesomeness that is sculpted leather and I may have lost my mind! These examples of my latest musings are all made from vegetable tanned leather that has been sculpted and tooled and painted with acrylic. They’re light weight, reasonably easy to customize for size and the possible variations in color and shape are nearly endless!  ...
